Questions To Ask Your Mover Tools & Guides

The job of Hiring A Good Mover can often be very overwhelming. But, a little research before hiring a mover goes a long way and saves you from tension during moving.

Look around, ask questions and take your time in selecting a mover. We also provide you with a few essential questions that need to be asked while selecting a mover.

  • Ask the Moving Company representatives if they work for the mover or for a broker.

Brokers are a key factor during moving. They connect the customers to moving companies. However, a broker cannot give a Legitimate Estimate of the move and neither is he/she responsible for any damage to your belongings.

  • Ask the Moving Company if they provide Binding Quotes.

Many movers or brokers provide quotes over the phone or verbally. But, they are not binding so the actual price of the move cannot be determined by these quotes. Get a binding quote after the Moving Company has reviewed all your belongings thoroughly. Keep in mind that brokers usually don’t provide you with binding quotes.

  • Ask the Movers if extra charges are included in the Moving Quote.

Often extra charges such as Flight Charges, Long Carry Charges, and Appliance Charges etc are charged separately. It is better to clarify these charges before hand so that you may not be faced with unexpected bills.

  • Ask your Mover whether they are capable of handling Heavy Equipments.

This is especially important if you own Heavy Goods like Piano or Expensive Antique Furniture.

  • Ask if your items will be transferred.

Long Distance Moves often require items to be transferred from one truck to another. This increases the chances of damage to your belongings.

  • Ask about the Forms of Payment that the movers accept. Ask about the terms of payment too.

It is better to avoid movers who accept cash only.

  • Inquire about the Insurance given by the Moving Company.

You may want to hire a third party insurance company if the terms set by the mover does not seem reasonable to you.
