With the world shrinking into a global village, moving is no longer unknown to people. In fact, in today’s time, every person must have an experience of moving for at least a couple of times.
So all are aware of the errors and mistakes of moves and nothing is new to anybody. In spite of being completely aware of the errors, you repeat it or tend to repeat it over and over again.
So here, is a list of some of the oft committed errors. Next time when you move, make sure that you have checked the list in order to avoid further mistakes:
- Check whether your movers are licensed by the State’s Department Of Transportation.
- Check their record with the Better Business Bureau.
- Do a quick check of the Moving Companies before committing to somebody.
- Use your free resources for Packing. Boxes and Newspaper are easy to get and are free of charge. Do a little more exercise to save your money on packing.
- Do not pack Heavy Items in Large Boxes. The heaviest item should go in the Smallest Box.
- Do not forget to measure the Clearance Space in your new home. Do not arrive in your new house and then find out that the furniture is not passing through the new door.
- Pack Flammable, Explosive and Corrosive Items separately.
- Be sure to carry the Bill of Lading. This is the only contact between you and the Moving Company; you might need it on your way.
- Do not forget to Label Your Boxes carefully along with instructions for handling it.
- Get updated about the Rules for Tax Deduction. There are certain guidelines for items that are Tax Deductible.
- Try to know as much as you can about your Movers. Try to know if they are professional or not.
- Do not forget to notify the Canada Post Office about the change in your postal address.
These are all common mistakes. There can also be blunders on the psychological level. To avoid this, prepare all your family members for the move, at least mentally. Also, allot sometime for yourself to adjust to the new surroundings.
